Kids Come Home Wednesday - Thank you Jesus
Anya was beside herself with excitement when I told her tomorrow is the day we go home. We walked into the orphanage at 6:20 pm tonight, and we got there as soon as we possibly could. She said she was so excited, she wasn't sure she could sleep tonight. Her English is pretty good. Zach and I did a shop this morning, and were at Furshet at Lybydska when we got a call saying Sergei was picking us up. An hour later we were driving a very long way to a neighboring community to Novoselki for the first paperwork to change birth certificates. Then after this was done, we had to travel to the Kiev district where Anya and Samuel were born, to finish the birth certificate process.
After that, Victor (who gave me the okay to publish his name) asked if we wanted to accompany him to the office to get the new Tax ID number. I said sure, and it is a good thing, because I had to be there to get the new numbers that were assigned, the same day. We would have gone to the passport office next, except that there was only 15 minutes left in the business day, so that falls to tomorrow. After the passport, there are no more Ukraine duties. There is a medical exam that Victor will help us with in connection with our visa application at the US Embassy.
The passport takes some business days to accomplish, so for the next few, we're just going to have great family time in Kiev. We'll play games, go to the park, take walks in non-traffic areas, go to playgrounds, play some computer games, watch movies, watch Samuel play with toys that are his and his alone (so cool!!), maybe go to the Ukrainian restaurant in Kiev, buy ice cream on Kyrshadyk, etc. I doubt I'm going to work these days...I think they will be such a treasure, and like I've said previously, 3 year olds do run the world.
Igor is giving me some menu help with Samuel, to accomodate the little guy from Ukrainian to American food choices. I'll be mister mom the next few days, a role I relish greatly.
The great photos above courtesy of the Dillners. Thanks Jeff and Rebecca!
Congratulations Dave! The goal line is in sight. Keep up the prayer 'til you get back here. BTW...as a MN Twins fan...please know that Harmon Killebrew passed away today.
