Dolphin Show and Translation Follies
Nobody's perfect. We had a great time at the Dolphin show today, only to learn when we returned to COCH that the Circus outing planned for yesterday, actually occurred today. So Jason, Anya and Samuel (Artium) all got to see a great dolphin show, but miss the circus. Like the Boehrs, we also took a vacation day on Saturday, in the knowledge that our kids were having a great time at the circus. I don't want to "out" the person who gave us the bad info. I've seen several times that well intended communications go through translation errors. To top it all off, all the big kids were then taken on a Church picnic...we were not told any of it. I would have loved for Anya to go to that. Nobody tells us anything, likely because they only speak Russian.
Speaking of the Dolphin show, I expected it to be a super soaker. It was, for Grievnna, but the smiles on the kids faces was worth it.
For me, Samuel stole the show. He was tired...this is his normal nap time. But on the bus ride over, and during the dolphin show, he sat in Mama's lap, and was very well behaved, and delightful. Anya came over and sat on my lap for a good deal of the show. Jason Ritzman and Olga were our guests as well.
Right after the show, Anya tugs me up to be near the dolphins. When I finally realized what was going down, a girl was asking me for G80.00. I forked it over. Anya wanted a photo with the dolphin. We could get up to 5 in the photo, and since the photos took forever to develop, and then I had to pay G20.00 for the photo, I snapped a bunch myself from the side. We thought these were good enough.

Sounds like the dolphin show was a big hit! : )

Nellie said when they got back, they were really animated in their descriptions of the show, so that was good.
ReplyDeleteBut seeing these photos makes my heart ache for these kids. Look at the kids photos...how could anyone give them up? I'm so glad we have Jesus.
Happy Easter Moores! Thank you so much for taking Jason with you to the Dolphin Show. This morning he told us how much he enjoyed it and got to touch the dolphins. There was real excitement in his voice. He even called out to Lucas over the speaker phone in "dolphin-ese" (sounding like one). The boys, as well as us, had a big laugh. The pictures are awesome and so great to see. Peanut butter as well as Mac 'n' cheese purchased at Costco...mmm...mmm...good ;-D
